ESA Awards and Recognition
Several awards are available at both the local Dan Beard Council (DBC) and national levels. Please review the details for each award regarding nomination processes, due dates, and presentation events.
Eagle Project of the Year
Outstanding Eagle Scout projects from the immediate past calendar year are nominated for this prestigious award at the council, territory, and national levels.
Submission Deadline: January 31st
Eagle Scout Scholarship
DBC awards one or more scholarships to Eagle Scouts each year to recognize excellence in Scouting.
Submission Deadline: March 31st
Dan Beard ESA Ascending Eagle Award
The Eagle Scout Association would like to recognize young Eagle Scouts in an annual Class of Ascending Eagles, showcasing their inspiring stories.
Submission Deadline: April 30th
Dan Beard ESA Scoutmaster Award
The local Dan Beard ESA Scoutmaster Award recognizes Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmaster who mentor Scouts on the Eagle Trail.
Submission Deadline: April 15th
Outstanding Eagle Scout
The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) is for Eagles who achieve significant service and notoriety at the local or regional level.
Submission Deadline: April 15th
Distinguished Eagle Scout
The NESA Distinguished Eagle Scout Award (DESA) is for Eagles who have achieved significant service and notoriety at the national or international level more than 25 years after their Eagle Board of Review.
Submission Deadline: June 30th
NESA Silver Wreath Award
The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) committee established the NESA Silver Wreath Award for service to NESA. Local Councils with active NESA Committees may recognize individual leadership and/or service by committee members via the Silver Wreath Award.

NESA Distinguished Service Award
The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) committee established the NESA Distinguished Service Award (DSA) in 1976 to recognize extraordinary, dedicated leadership and/or service to NESA resulting in significant impact on a national or regional level over a period of several years. Leadership and service that impacts farthest beyond the local council are key considerations. Basic considerations include current registration with the Boy Scouts of America and specific actions that enhance NESA’s image, reputation, effectiveness, and membership.

Spirit of the Eagle
The Scouting America Spirit of the Eagle is a posthumous award to recognize the contributions of Scouting members who lost their lives in an untimely accident or illness (under the age of 21).
Submission Deadline: Within 6 months of nominee’s death
